  1. I'm not an avid Instagram user...in fact my only post is of Ms. Leavitt's dog Frank. I think my hesitation toward using it is because it is a facade of reality...as well as the audience is too darn diverse. As soon as I registered, I had invites to follow, as well as people following me. This included close friends, but also family, students, former students, former coworkers, and people I barely know. Had I known more, I would have filtered my audience...because does everyone in my life get to know everything about me? This leads me to wonder if teens, both just entering and just leaving high school, really understand the power of audience. Do they...do you...understand the assumptions and opinions even one image can elicit on a social media site such as Instagram?

  2. I do have an Instagram but I don't ever use it . Part of it is because I'm too lazy and the other part is I feel like every picture I post needs to be interesting and look good, or else people will be like "why would she post this photo?". Just like everything else in there world there is judgement on Instagram. This kind of connects to your last sentence, do people really understand the assumptions and opinions other people get from your photos? It's easy to judge a book my its cover, and just as easy to judge a photo that may to you have no meaning behind it.

  3. I agree with your statement of others not really knowing the message they are sending. I think most people post not thinking of what could come along with it. I also have an Instagram but don't really use for that reason. But also like you said I don't want everyone to know everything that's going on in my life.

  4. I have heard of Instagram, but I don't have or use it. I'm sure that I wouldn't have know about the audience that was looking at my photos. That seems like a big deal. They should probably put something such as a setting that you could probably have only people you know or want to see it.
